What Grand Morse is
A Morse taper is an old and very effective engineering principle: push a tapered shaft into a matching tapered socket and friction locks them together. Applied to implants, a well-made conical connection resists micro-movement under chewing load and narrows the microscopic gap where bacteria can accumulate.
This is mainstream modern design, shared in principle with Straumann's TorcFit, Nobel's conical connection and Camlog's CONELOG. Neodent's implementation is its own, and Grand Morse components do not fit any of those other systems.
Acqua and NeoPoros
NeoPoros is Neodent's standard roughened surface. Acqua is the hydrophilic, water-attracting, version, intended to speed early healing. The relationship mirrors Straumann's SLA and SLActive, which is unsurprising given the shared ownership.
Neodent's brochure lists both surfaces across the diameter range. Ask which you are getting: a hydrophilic surface may matter if you are a candidate for early loading or heal slowly, and matters less if you are healthy with good bone and no time pressure.
What Straumann ownership does and does not give you
It does mean corporate-level manufacturing standards, regulatory infrastructure, and a parent company very unlikely to disappear, which genuinely matters for getting components in twenty years.
It does not mean you are getting a Straumann implant. Grand Morse is a different connection with different components; Straumann parts will not fit it. And it does not transfer Straumann's evidence base, the research supporting Straumann implants was conducted on Straumann implants.
Neodent's publicly available literature is considerably thinner than the premium brands', two product brochures against dozens of clinical documents.
