What CONELOG is

Camlog's catalogue describes CONELOG SCREW-LINE implants as slightly conical, self-tapping screw implants, available with a screw-mounted insertion post. “Slightly conical” is worth noting, this is a gently tapering body rather than the aggressively tapered geometry some competitors use for immediate placement. “Self-tapping” means the implant cuts its own thread as it is driven in, rather than requiring the bone to be pre-threaded.

The conical connection itself works by friction between matching tapered surfaces. It resists micro-movement under load and narrows the gap at the implant-abutment junction where bacteria gather. Straumann's TorcFit, Nobel's conical connection and Neodent's Grand Morse all work on this principle.

Custom-milled prosthetics

DEDICAM is Camlog's CAD/CAM service for customised abutments and prosthetic components, milled to your specific anatomy rather than selected from stock. For a front tooth, a custom abutment shaped to your gum contour usually produces a better aesthetic result than a stock part, and costs more. Worth asking which you are getting and why.

Platform discipline

CONELOG and CAMLOG are separate connection systems. This is the single most important practical fact about Camlog for a patient.

Two titanium platforms, not interchangeable

Camlog runs the CAMLOG and CONELOG connections as separate platforms with different geometry. Components made for one will not fit the other, and CERALOG's Hexalobe connection is different again. Get the platform recorded in writing at placement.
