Newer is not automatically better for you

Manufacturers iterate their implant lines, and each generation typically brings refinements to thread geometry, surface or connection. Those refinements are usually real. But the newest line always has the least clinical follow-up, and an established predecessor with years of documented use is a legitimate choice rather than an outdated one.

If your dentist proposes ET IV, the useful question is what it does better for your case, not whether it is newer.

We can describe where it sits in the range accurately; we cannot compare its clinical performance against ET III from these documents, and we will not imply otherwise.

What to confirm

As with every Hiossen system, the platform size and abutment colour coding determine what can be fitted to your implant later.

Record your platform

Hiossen colour-codes its connections and runs several platform sizes. Components are platform-specific, a mini-platform abutment will not seat on a regular-platform implant. Get the system, connection size and reference number written down at placement.

  2. How long have you been placing ET IV, and how many?
  3. Which surface am I getting, and why that one?
  4. What platform size and abutment coding will I have?
  5. Are components as readily available as for the established lines?
